The nights are getting a teeny bit chilly, there's still a bit of sunshine around but it's definitely time to start layering up. Our thoughts are turning again to cosy evenings on the sofa with a knitting project on the go. And, before you all get too busy making presents and seasonal bits and pieces for other people, there's surely time to creatively indulge in something lovely just for yourself!
This week we've added the long-admired Debbie Bliss Como (£5.50 per 50g ball) to our wool favourites. This 90% wool/10% cashmere blend is a great yarn to start off the knitting season - it's superchunky and a very quick knit, it's beautifully soft and light and is available in pretty, cheery colours to stave off the gloom of any dismal autumn days we might be in store for.
To accompany the yarn we've got the Como pattern book (£7.50) which contains 16 lovely patterns for Superchunky wool. (Incidentally, another of our favourites - the excellent value Freedom Wool (£2.45 per 50g ball) - can be substituted for Como in these patterns if you're looking for an alternative.
And, in another of Debbie Bliss' newest pattern books - 'Snow Queen' (£7.50), there are six very stylish winter knits in aran and superchunky weight yarn. The poncho (shown left in Como) is at the very top of our list of autumn must-haves!
