Friday 14th September : An Evening With Alice Prier - *A Lesson On Pattern Drafting*

Friday 14 September 2018

Time: 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Ray Stitch Presents An Evening with In House Pattern Cutter Alice Prier - We have carefully curated an event programme packed full with talks from inspiring designers, innovators and creators.

Join us for a live pattern cutting experience with designer and author Alice Prier. In just two hours Alice will give a capsule class in drafting a clever pattern out of one piece of cloth!

Alice has recently returned from a 3 month trip which encompassed the freezing Antarctic, the steamy Amazon, volunteering to help clear a forest trail in hurricane hit Dominica and hobnobbing with the jet set on Mustique - and all out of a medium sized suitcase! Alice will give you lots of tips on sewing a minimal travel wardrobe with maximum versatility and demonstrate how she made her 'Pattern Magic' dress en route, which you can make from the comfort of your sun lounger.

Oh her trip Alice found the worlds most southerly haberdashery, learned to embroider with the Zuleta women in Ecuador and taught the ladies in the tourist office in Jamaica how to cut a pattern. There will be lots of stories to tell!

Alice originally trained as a costume designer but shortly after she set up her couture clothing company Alice & Co over 20 years ago, making smart outfits for city women. She has cut patterns commercially for companies such as Harrods, ASOS and M&S. She has also written her first book, Pattern Making Templates for Skirts and Dresses which has recently been published. Whenever she can, Alice likes to travel the world writing her fashion travel blog

This two hour event begins with a 30 minute reception with free drinks and snacks followed by an hour’s talk and then a 30 minute Q and A at the end.
