  • New Amy Butler Patterns

The new Colette patterns we added a couple of weeks ago are going down a treat and patterns in general seem to be very popular at the moment. We are often asked for the patterns for some of the clothes in the Ray Stitch gallery made to showcase our fabric, but in the main they are copied or improvised by our super-stitcher Ana. However, we've decided to have a go at developing some simple instruction sheets for a few things we feature in there, so watch this space!

In the meantime, let's leave it to the experts. We've just added some more Amy Butler patterns to our collection. The fabulous "Liverpool" shirt dress, the Sun Surf Halter top, the Mini Dress Tunic and the Anna Tunic are available in Books and Patterns/Sewing Patterns - Garments, and the Frenchy bags and the High Street Messenger Bag are available in Books and Patterns/Sewing Patterns - Accessories.  Check them out!

  • New Colette Patterns

In the shop at last! - 5 more wonderful Colette patterns to add to the fabulously stylish 5 we already have. For those of you unfamiliar with Colette and her very cool patterns, they really stand alone where, as she correctly says herself, there is otherwise "a dearth of modern sewing patterns for design-oriented sewers". She is a very keen advocate of making your own clothes and cherishing them rather than being seduced by cheap, cute, off-the-peg clothing and disposing of it after a season. The patterns from her first collection were very popular -  "designed to be made into clothes that you will love forever.....wearable, practical, and pretty."

This second collection, like the first, is extremely stylish - but the best thing about them, we think, is that the classic and flattering designs are versatile and lend themselves perfectly to being made to suit any occasion or personality by the choice of your own fabric and trimmings.  Have a look at the Colette website to read more about their creator, Sarai Mitnick.

One of the patterns from the new collection, "Rooibos" was reviewed in Sew Hip magazine this month by Gretchen Hirsch, you can read her fascinating blog and her high praise for Colette patterns here.
