This simple, fully-lined skirt features two elastic casings and a drawstring that ties at one side. The flared shape will have girls of all ages twirling happily. This is a straightforward pattern suitable for beginners, but challenges you just enough with new techniques! It is a good shape for you to use as an experiment of different types of fabric.
Age: 6 months to age 14
Choose a light- to mediumweight woven fabric like cotton broadcloth, batiste, calico, lawn, linen, lightweight denim, chambray, seersucker, and voile. As long as you don't create bulk for the elastic casing, and use a ready made cord for the drawstring, you could try out a slightly heavier fabric.
