In this workshop you will learn various skills and techniques to mend and alter your clothes. This is a flexible workshop and some of the areas we cover will be dependent on what people would like to learn.

Areas of repair we can demonstrate:

Patching up your Jeans - Two techniques to patch your jeans, utilising a more decorative patchwork, and a method designed to blend in with your denim.

Hemming - Covering blind hemming and a top stitched through hem. In this section you will also learn the best way to shorten a skirt or trouser.

Seam Repair - This section will cover seam tears as well as hand stitching techniques, including satin stitch.

Buttonhole Repair - Blanket stitch hand stitching technique you can utilise for button hole repair. 

Button Replacement - Sewing on a button securely.

Darning - Using patchwork and woven darning technique to repair a hole or tear in your clothes.

Elbow Patching - Applying a patch to frequently worn away elbows using blanket stitch.

Zip Replacement - Remove a broken zip and replace with a new one.

If you would like to bring something along that needs a repair there might be time to get started on it or, if not, we'd be happy to advise.

We provide: All tools and equipment, machine thread, fabric scraps and darning wool. You might need to purchase other materials for your mend. You will receive 10% discount on anything bought in our store on the day of your class.

Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to fit you in on another date but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances.
