Patchwork for Beginners - Make a Quilt
Maximum Class Size: 6
Level: You will need to be reasonably confident with a sewing machine to attend this class.
During this full day session you will have the opportunity to complete a small and simple block quilt, approximately 1.1m x 1.1m. The workshop will start with quilting inspiration to help you design your block. You will then be guided through all the stages of quilt making, from patchwork piecing, quilting layers together to neat binding and finishing.
We will also give you a short demonstration on hand quilting so that you have the choice of stitching into your quilt to give it a more traditional and textured look when you get home. In one day you will create your own unique quilt and take away the skills and techniques that you can use over and over again.
Materials: You will need to bring a selection of fabrics for the quilt top, in total a surface area of 1.1m x 1.1m and one piece measuring 1.1m for the back of the quilt. You will also need 5m of bias binding.
Refreshments: Hot drinks, cold drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day. There will be a break for lunch during which time you are welcome to bring in and eat a packed lunch in the workshop or have a wander out and buy food from various places nearby.
Booking the class entitles you to a 10% discount in the Ray Stitch shop for one week from the date of your class.
