Pattern Cutting: Trouser Block Part 2 - Design and Make a Pair of Trousers

Maximum Class Size: 6

Level 5: Advanced. For confident stitchers looking to push their skills further. Ideal for confident stitchers who have completed the Trouser Block class and are ready to develop and construct their own custom trouser design.

Now that you’ve created your personalised trouser block, it’s time to put it into action. This one-day workshop with expert pattern cutter Alice Prier is all about taking your block and transforming it into a wearable design of your choice. From sleek cigarette trousers to flowing wide-leg styles or casual summer shorts, Alice will guide you through the process of translating your block into a fully formed garment.

You’ll create your pattern pieces, plan construction details such as pockets, zips or elastic waistbands, and begin sewing your own custom-fit trousers.

Please note that depending on the complexity of your design, you may not fully complete your trousers during the workshop, but you will leave with a full set of pattern pieces and the knowledge to finish the project with confidence.

Techniques Covered

  • Adapting your trouser block into a custom design
  • Choosing and planning appropriate fastenings and finishes
  • Drafting pattern pieces for your chosen style
